The Catholic Standard joins the universal Church in prayerful remembrance of Pope Francis, on the first anniversary of his passing on April 21, 2025.
In his thirteen years as Successor of Peter, Pope Francis touched the hearts of millions — not only through his words, but through his witness: his closeness to the poor, the sick, the marginalised, and the forgotten. He preached mercy not as an abstraction, but as a way of life, reminding the Church always to go to the peripheries.
As we mark this solemn anniversary, we commend his soul to the loving mercy of God, and we pray that his legacy — of humility, fraternity, and compassion — continues to inspire the Church in Ghana and across the world.
“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen”.
